Electrical work, planned around your property

A fault that interrupts your working day needs a different approach from a renovation you’re planning for next year. Tell us what’s happening, what the building is used for and when you need the work done. We can then discuss what needs checking and how to approach the job.

Mackie Electrical Services is a family-run business, trading since 2000. Our in-house electricians serve homes and businesses in Falkirk, Grangemouth and Larbert from our base in Kinlochard. We carry out repairs and alterations as well as larger electrical installations.

Fault finding and repairs

If the power keeps tripping, tell us when it happens and which parts of the property are affected. The cause needs investigating before we can explain the repair. Replacing the consumer unit, often called the fuse box, is one possible job, but it isn’t a diagnosis of the fault.

For a shop, office or other business premises, let us know which equipment or areas you need to keep available. Access and working hours matter when planning the investigation and any interruption to the supply.

For an urgent electrical enquiry, call 07990 504549 to discuss the problem and availability. For planned repairs, send an electrical enquiry with your postcode and a short description.

EICRs and work identified by an inspection

An Electrical Installation Condition Report checks the condition of the existing installation. We carry out EICRs for homeowners, landlords and businesses, explain the findings and can quote for the work they identify. If you already have a report, start by telling us what it says.

Our EICR service page explains the inspection. A report records what was found; any repairs or alterations need their own agreed scope.

Rewiring, extra sockets and renovation plans

Before new floors or decorated walls go in, decide where you’ll need sockets, lighting and supplies for equipment. We can assess the existing circuits against those plans and explain what can stay, what needs altering and whether a partial or full rewire is appropriate.

On a cottage refurbishment in Doune, near Stirling, our work included a partial rewire with alterations and additions to the existing electrical system. We worked alongside RTA Builders & Roofers on the renovation and also installed solar PV and battery storage. Planning the electrical work alongside the renovation allowed the alterations and new equipment to be considered together.

Read about our full and partial rewiring service and what affects a Scottish house rewire quote. Tell us whether the property will be occupied, what finishes you want to keep and whether other trades are booked. Agree the extent of making good as well as the electrical work.

Adding an EV charger, solar or battery storage?

Include those plans in the conversation before settling the electrical work. The existing installation and the new equipment need to be assessed together.
