How much do solar panels cost in Scotland?

A typical 4kW solar panel system for a 3-4 bedroom house in Scotland costs around £5,500 to £7,500 fully installed. That price includes the panels, inverter, roof mounting, all wiring, DNO notification, and your MCS certification — which you need for Smart Export Guarantee payments.

For larger homes or higher energy usage, a 6kW system runs from around £8,000 to £10,000. If you want to add battery storage at the same time, expect £9,000 to £13,000 for a combined 4kW solar and 5kWh battery system.

Solar panels and battery storage are currently 0% VAT until 31 March 2027, which saves you around 20% compared to the standard rate.

Most of our customers see their electricity bills drop by 50–70%. The exact savings depend on your roof orientation, how much electricity you use during the day, and whether you add a battery to store excess generation.
